Community Service Project
Southernwood Spar and Southernwood Primary School have joined forces to initiate a Community Service Project which benefits the children with learning dissabilities in the area.
On a weekly basis, children from Southernwood Primary School spend two hours at their local Southernwood Spar, learning about the retail trade and developing skills which would greatly assist them in the future.
The children benefitting from this Community Service Project alternate their time between the various departments e.g.: the Butchery, the Bakery, the Deli, the Packaging departments etc, where Mrs Hogan and the Spar team teach them and encourage them as they go about the business of acquiring skills to prepare themselves for a better future.
Southernwood Spar are also involved in community work at Eldorado Retirement Centre, The Manor House, Grens Junior School, and College Street Junior School in East London, as well as with the East London Bowling Community. |
